BEING HEARD: They want to listen

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE HEARD

EVERY BRITISH CITIZEN, OF EVERY AGE, HAS THE RIGHT TO VOICE THEIR OPINIONS AND BE HEARD BY DECISION-MAKERS.  IT'S WHAT DEMOCRACY IS ALL ABOUT

Every person, of every age, race and creed, has the right to have their opinions heard by those in power.

This is a fundamental right, protected by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is also especially protected by Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which holds that children and young people have the right to say what they think and be listened to by adults when they make decisions that affect them.

In that spirit, the Being Heard website has been designed with the aim of inviting young people to engage with political issues and political decision-makers.

The aim of Being Heard is to build young people's level of political awareness and participation so that they can play an active role in the democratic processes affecting their lives. Being Heard is also a consultation space for decision-makers to engage with young people and their ideas, experiences and opinions.
